Willington Old School Trust – Registered Charity No1039482

The Willington Old School Trust was formed in 1994 to take over the old Village School located at  42 Castle Way after it had been closed consequent upon the opening of the new Willington Primary School.  The buildings for which the Trust has responsibility are the School itself (known as The Old School), the adjacent Horsa Hut, and the School House.  These buildings have been leased to the Trust by the Derby Diocesan Board of Education for a period of 28 years, i.e. the Lease will terminate in 2022.

The Trust was established to manage and operate the Old School “for the use of the inhabitants of Willington for  meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants” (extract from the Trust Deed).

The Trust fulfils this mission by hiring out the School Hall and the Horsa Hut to local organisations, businesses and individuals.  A wide variety of users make regular use of the facilities.  These include:-

•    Pre-School (for the under-5’s),
•    Old School Adventure Club (for out-of-school care)
•    Pilates
•    Sign Language
•    Parish Council
•    Willington History Group
•    Natural Childbirth Trust
•    Morris Dancing

•    Leap Dance

In addition, the facilities are also used for children’s parties and other social functions.
