Spinning & Weaving Craft Group

The Monday Spinning and Weaving Class

began life as an Adult Education evening class in Hatton and has been meeting at the Old School since it became a Trust in the early 90's.  The tutor, Alison Daykin, an award winning textile designer, has taught countless people to spin, weave, dye and make felt for over 30 years.

The group learn a wide range of spinning skills, weaving techniques, uses for natural dyes and synthetic dyes, as well as different felting techniques.  Students range from the complete beginner to the experienced spinner and weaver and equipment can be hired from the tutor if they want to try out the skill before committing to buy their own equipment, subject to availability.

It is a very happy relaxed group and new members will be made very welcome.  They meet every Monday, during term time, from 7pm to 9pm and a variety of teas, coffee and biscuits are served during the class.
